Name: Blades
From: Transformers Rescue Bots
Appearance:
Robot Mode
Helicopter mode
Age: Technically thousands of years old, rather juvenile in development.
Gender: Referred to as male
Personality: Blades is the helicopter mom of the Rescue Bots, meeting new things with hesitation, caution, and dramatics when something turns out to be far more dangerous than he thought when it’s all over. He hovers endlessly over those few under his protection (IE, Cody) who he feels actually NEED it. It’s only mostly NOT literal hovering.
He has very little self-esteem, always needing reassurance that he CAN in fact succeed at whatever it is he’s trying to do. Once he is focused on the job mindset, he is a competent member of the team, knowing he can depend on the others and where his place in this team IS. But he’s always worried about not being a useful part of the team, or being easily replaced as a team mate or friend.
Half as a coping mechanism, half because the situations they get into require it, Blades has developed a very deadpan and snarky sense of humor. This also allows him to point out as many flaws in a plan as he can find without seeming as though he’s complaining. (Complaining DOES happen, even so. A lot of it.) Since he does have a tendency to take things nearly as literally as Chase, it may be hard to tell when he IS joking.
Backstory: One of four bots left in stasis at the beginning of the war, and part of the last rescue team-Rescue Force Sigma 17- Blades and the rest of his team landed on Earth and were promptly reassigned to the town of Griffin Rock as ‘liaisons’ by Optimus Prime. Their mission? Learn from the humans, protect and serve, and keep the secret of the existence of alien robots a SECRET.
They were then assigned alt modes and human partners for the duration. Having the wonderful luck of choosing his alt mode last, Blades got stuck with the helicopter.
He’s terrified of heights.
As with Heatwave and Boulder, Blades ran into several snags with his human partner, Dani Burns, namely his fear of flying and her love of speed. They eventually worked towards a compromise, with Blades learning to overcome his fears, and Dani helping him through (and not abusing the controls).
As far as Earth goes, Blades is second to Boulder in fascination with the world, though he really wishes it would stop finding ways to try and kill everything that lives on it. I mean. There’s SEA monsters in the SEA.
Why doesn’t anyone tell him these things?
Moral Standing: Lawful good leaning towards neutral good.
Dreams: Not having to hide while among humans. Getting an altmode with wheels, alternatively, Dani not wanting to go QUITE SO high.
Fears: Flying. Heights in general. Monsters. Bears. Flying lobsters. Failing his team and seeing them all die.
